YOUTH YOGA TEACHER TRAINING PROGRAM
YYD's Youth Yoga Teacher Training Program is a weekend intensive program designed for yoga teachers who have a sincere desire to work with youth as a mentor & role model. Participants should have a minimum of 2 years daily practice of yoga, and currently teach yoga (or have participated in yoga teacher training). Some exception can be made for educators with a yoga practice wishing to expand their skills for use in the classroom. Experience working with youth is recommended.
This workshop includes a range of skills for working with youth consciously. YYD encourages and supports our teachers as mentors and role models to the next generation. Skills presented include how to develop a rapport with youth, as well as creating trust and safety in the classroom; How to orient your classes to a variety of age groups; Poses and instruction appropriate for youth. In addition we explore communication skills, issues of diversity & gender, council practice, mindfulness meditation, how to build trust with teens, and how to inspire young people in the practice of yoga. We emphasize working with teens, however all school age children will be addressed.
